Short Season-A Lowell Spinners
Final Score: Staten Island Yankees 4, Spinners 3
Notable Pitchers:
Jake Cosart (5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, BB, 2 K)
- Cosart was taken in the third round of last year’s draft as a project arm and his rawness has been transparent this season as he has a 6.86 ERA and more walks than strikeouts. In fact, walks have been a huge problem for him thus far and yesterday’s outing, which saw him only walk one batter in a successful start, is quite encouraging for the hard-throwing right-hander.
Bobby Poyner (0 IP, H, R)
Notable Position Players:
Victor Acosta (1-4, K)
Luis Alexander Basabe (1-5, SB, K)
Andrew Benintendi (1-2, HR, 2 BB)
- After a dull stretch of games, Benintendi is definitely back on track, hitting a home run and drawing two more walks. He’s gotten his slash line up to .250/.429/.472 and he’s back to looking the part of Boston’s first-round draft pick.
Josh Ockimey (0-4, K)
