Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox

Final Score: PawSox 13, Durham Bulls 4

Notable Pitchers:

Dayan Diaz (3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K)

Joe Kelly (5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, BB, 7 K)

  • Kelly has been quite good since his option to Pawtucket, as he now has a 2.84 ERA in 4 starts with the PawSox. He’s backing that ERA up with good peripherals (8.5 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9), which may indicate that the demotion has done him some good. Maybe after a few more good starts, he’ll be in line for a return to Boston.

Pat Light (IP, 0 H, 0 R, K)

Notable Position Players:

Jackie Bradley Jr. (3-5, 2 HR, SB)

Rusney Castillo (0-6, K)

Garin Cecchini (0-4, BB, 4 K)

Allen Craig (1-5, BB)

Marco Hernandez (4-5, 2B, HR)

  • Hernandez broke out this season in Portland and now, in just his second game since being promoted to Pawtucket, he has broken out once more. With four hits, including a double and a home run, last night, he is really transforming into a guy that might have a future with the Red Sox.

Double-A Portland Sea Dogs

Final Score: New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Sea Dogs 1

Notable Pitchers:

Kyle Martin (1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K)

  • After missing some time with injuries, Martin makes his return to Portland. Among legitimate Red Sox prospects, he probably has one of the lowest ceilings, as he’s likely a future middle reliever. However, he has a pretty good chance of reaching that ceiling and the 24-year old has a 3.38 ERA with 10.7 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 in 21.1 innings for the Sea Dogs this season.

Notable Position Players:

Carlos Asuaje (1-3, BB)

Tzu-Wei Lin (0-2, BB, K)

Manuel Margot (1-3, BB, SB)

Henry Ramos (0-4, 3 K)

Sam Travis (1-3, 2B, BB, K)

High-A Salem Red Sox

Final Score: Lynchburg Hillcats 4, Red Sox 1

Notable Pitchers:

Daniel McGrath (4 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, 4 K)

  • After missing some time with injuries, McGrath returns to Salem, where he has had a great season in 2015. Even with a mediocre start last night, the Australian-born left-hander has a 1.89 ERA as he has run through High-A bats despite displaying poor control at times. He isn’t a highly-touted prospect, but he does have some projection and with things looking lean in Salem, he’s one of the more promising youngsters there.

Notable Position Players:

Mauricio Dubon (1-4)

Wendell Rijo (1-4, K, CS)

Low-A Greenville Drive

Final Score: Drive 14, Asheville Tourists 8

Notable Position Players:

Michael Chavis (0-5, 2 K)

Rafael Devers (1-4, SB, K)

  • Devers has gotten a lot of love on midseason prospect lists, most recently ranking as the 8th best prospect in baseball (even ahead of Moncada) on Keith Law’s midseason top 50. On the surface, it might be difficult to see why as his .298/.327/.439 slash line is good but nothing special. However, Devers is still just 18 years old and is yet to face a pitcher younger than him, which is what makes his decent performance so impressive, even if it’s only coming in Low-A.

Javier Guerra (2-3, 2 BB)

  • The entire Drive lineup has been extremely hot lately but nobody more so than Guerra. The 19-year old shortstop has brought his season line up to .309/.363/.520 with a torrid July that has seen him hit .464/.500/.732 with 4 home runs. Guerra is joining the ranks of elite Red Sox prospects and it’s not really hard to see why.

Nick Longhi (1-4, 2 K)

Yoan Moncada (1-4, 2 SB, CS, BB, K)

Jun 13, 2015; Omaha, NE, USA; Arkansas Razorbacks runner

Andrew Benintendi

Short Season A Lowell Spinners

Final Score: Connecticut Tigers 4, Spinners 3

Notable Position Players:

Andrew Benintendi (2-5, 3B, K)

  • After an extended slump, Benitendi broke out last night with a big game, notching two hits including a triple. Benintendi has struggled since signing with the Red Sox, slashing .219/.366/.375, but he is displaying a good approach and if he starts to right himself at the plate, he should be on his way to Greenville soon.

Mitchell Gunsolus (2-3, K)

Tate Matheny (1-5, 3B)

Josh Ockimey (1-3, BB, K)

Austin Rei (0-4, BB)

Gulf Coast League Red Sox

Final Score: GCL Twins 8, Red Sox 2

Notable Position Players:

Yoan Aybar (0-4, K)

Devon Fisher (0-1, 2 BB, K)

Trent Kemp (0-3, BB, K)

Jagger Rusconi (0-2, K)

Yomar Valentin (1-4)

  • Valentin has gotten off to a slow start since signing with the Red Sox after being selected in the 20th round, going just 2-15 thus far. However, he’s an actual prospect despite being taken so late and has good bloodlines as the son of former player Jose Valentin. He could be a guy to watch in a few years as he is still just 17 years old.

Kyri Washington (0-3, BB)
