Manuel Margot – Hot!

Rewards in the minors is advancement and Margot, a 20-year-old Dominican, recently received one with a promotion to Portland at the Double-A level. Margot, a fleet center fielder, had done significant damage at Salem A+ with a comfortable slash of .282/.321/.420 to justify the move.

So just how has Double-A worked out?

In a 14 game sample that encompasses 54 at bats Margot, a right-hander, has slashed .296/.356/.463 while stealing four bases in five attempts. That put Margot at 24 steals for the two-team season. Margot has also continued his contact ability with a 16.7K% that, hopefully, will decrease as he gains experience with Portland.

Margot will not generate home run power, but has the speed and stoke to rack up doubles and triples as he continues to develop both physically and with experience.

Margot, the fourth ranked Red Sox prospect, has garnered enough attention to have his name surface in various trade scenarios and the possibility is always present that the Red Sox may consider one.
