Short Season-A Lowell Spinners

Final Score: Tri-City Valleycats 7, Spinners 4

Notable Position Players:

Victor Acosta (0-3, BB, K)

Andrew Benitendi (0-3, BB)

Mitchell Gunsolus (0-2, R, 2 BB, K)

Austin Rei (0-3, K)

  • Rei makes his debut in the Red Sox organization with a quiet performance here. There’s not a ton of offensive projection for Rei, though he did swing the bat well in college, but he profiles as an excellent defensive catcher and that should be his strength going forward.

Tucker Tubbs (2-3, HR, R, RBI)

  • Tubbs hits his first home run since joining the Red Sox organization. The ninth-round selection out of Memphis is a college senior first baseman, so there’s hardly a high ceiling here. However, he’s shown the ability to hit in college and is slashing .256/.375/.462 in his first taste of professional baseball.
