Marlins Key Players to Watch

Dee Gordon was voted to his first All-Star team this season. He is hitting .339 with 29 steals on the season. Last season he led the NL with 64 steals. His average has been just .279 since the start of June. He has also benefited from a .399 BABIP (avg on balls in play) compared to his career mark of .343. Keeping him off the bases will be a high priority. Miley’s great pickoff move should help to keep Gordon from wreaking too much havoc.

Justin Bour is a former 25th round draft choice of the Chicago Cubs. After the 2013 season, the Marlins acquired him in the Rule 5 draft. He sports a .503 slugging percentage on the season.  Bour homered in four straight games last week.  He has hit 10 homers in 163 plate appearances this season. The six foot four 250 pound lefty hitting first baseman, has been in the majors since April 24th this season after seeing 39 games of action in the majors in 2014. Bour also pounded his way to a .992 OPS and five home runs in May of this season.
