Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox

Final Score: Syracuse Chiefs 4, PawSox 1

Notable Pitchers:

Henry Owens (6.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 4 R, 2 BB, 7 K)

  • This isn’t a great outing for Owens in terms of results, but it’s encouraging to see him walk only two batters while striking out seven. The big lefty has had major walk problems this season, but he’s had better command of late and he could be looking at a cup of coffee with the Red Sox before the season is over.

Dayan Diaz (1.1 IP, H, 0 R, K)

Notable Position Players:

Rusney Castillo (0-3, BB, K)

Garin Cecchini (0-4)

Allen Craig (0-3, BB, 2 K)

Daniel Nava (1-3, K)

Travis Shaw (1-4, 2 K)

Double-A Portland Sea Dogs

Final Score: Sea Dogs 6, Binghampton Mets 1

Notable Pitchers:

Justin Haley (6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K)

  • Haley has had a rough go of things this season and, like Owens, he’s had major problems with his command. However, he turned in an excellent outing here in every sense, lowering his ERA to 4.84 in the process. The 2012 sixth-rounder has been pitching better of late and could be in the Pawtucket rotation before the end of the year.

Williams Jerez (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB)

Notable Position Players:

Carlos Asuaje (1-4, R, RBI, 2 K)

Manuel Margot (1-3, 3B, R, RBI, BB, K)

Sam Travis (1-3, R, RBI, SB)

High-A Salem Red Sox

Final Score: Red Sox 5, Lynchburg Hillcats 3

Notable Position Players:

Mauricio Dubon (1-2, 2B, R, RBI, 2 BB, SB)

  • After a breakout season with the Low-A Greenville Drive, Dubon has struggled since being promoted to High-A. In fact, even after today’s big game, which saw him reach base three times and steal a bag, he’s still hitting just .133/.250/.167 on the season. However, he’s only played nine games at the level and he’s sure to turn it around soon, possibly starting with this big game.

Jose Vinicio (1-5, R, K, CS)

Low-A Greenville Drive

Final Score: Savannah Sand Gnats 8, Drive 6

Notable Position Players:

Rafael Devers (0-5, RBI, K)

Javier Guerra (2-5, R, K)

Nick Longhi (2-5, 2B, R, RBI)

Yoan Moncada (2-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI)

  • Moncada’s professional career has gotten out to a very tough start, but he’s really turned it around of late as the promising 20-year old has gone 13-38 in his last ten games, stealing six bases in the process. He’s finally beginning to show the potential which led to his record-setting $31.5M signing bonus this winter and we just have to hope he continues to display his potential as he becomes acclimated to life in the United States.

Short Season-A Lowell Spinners

Final Score: Tri-City Valleycats 6, Spinners 5

Notable Position Players:

Victor Acosta (2-7, HR, R, RBI, 2 K)

Andrew Benintendi (1-5, 2 BB, K)

  • Benintendi didn’t have quite as good a game here as he did in his first two (which saw him go 4-8 with a homer), but he still reached base three times and showed off his advanced plate discipline. He has not disappointed in the early going in Lowell and he looks like a guy who could be moving on quickly.

Mitchell Gunsolus (1-5, BB, K)

Josh Ockimey (0-6, BB, R, 3 K)

Henry Ramos (1-5, K)
