Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox

Rusney Castillo (0-4, RBI, 2 K)

Garin Cecchini (0-3, K)

Allen Craig (2-4, K)

Edwin Escobar (0.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB)

  • This is about as good an outing as one could expect from Escobar in an embarrassing 14-2 loss. Escobar is getting his feet wet in working out of the bullpen full time this season and, after last night’s terrible performance, his ERA stands at 12.46 in 8.2 innings. There’s clearly work to be done, but he’ll probably be up with the Red Sox for a September call-up at least.

Daniel Nava (1-3, 2 K)

  • Nava makes his triumphant return to baseball after spending over two months on the disabled list with a thumb injury. He’s slashing only .159/.250/.190 on the season and will join an already crowded Red Sox outfield, but hopefully he can return to being a solid platoon bat going forward.
