Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox
Garin Cecchini (0-3)
Allen Craig (0-3, K)
Sean Coyle (0-3, K)
Pat Light (0.2 IP, H, 0 R, K)
Henry Owens (7.1 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 4 K)
- Owens posts another strong start and continues a recent run of success. Walks have been a huge problem for Owens all season and, even after last night’s strong performance, he is walking 4.7 per nine innings. However, he has walked only 6 in 25.2 innings pitched in his last four starts and Owens is now looking quite a bit more MLB ready than he was even a few weeks ago.

Double-A Portland Sea Dogs
Carlos Asuaje (0-3, 2 RBI)
Justin Haley (3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K)
- Haley is an intriguing, if unheralded, pitching prospect who has struggled in Portland in his age 24 season. He has had troubles with walks throughout his minor league career and he has just a 5.29 ERA this season, a mark which he’ll have a hard time improving upon if he continues to pitch like he did yesterday.
Sam Travis (0-4)
Shane Victorino (1-3, 2B, R, RBI)
- A strong rehab game by Victorino suggests that the outfielder is close to being ready to return to the Red Sox. It’s unclear exactly where he’ll fit into Boston’s plans going forward, but he’ll probably play regularly against left-handed starters and perhaps could become a useful trade chip.

High-A Salem Red Sox
Tzu-Wei Lin (2-4, R, BB)
Wendell Rijo (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, K)
- Rijo’s first season in High-A hasn’t gone perfectly, as he is slashing only .249/.297/.388 with 3 homers and 4 steals. However, he turns in a nice game today and it’s important to consider that he’s still just 19 years old. There’s a long way to go before he’s a major leaguer or even a high-profile prospect, but he’s got time to get there.

Low-A Greenville Drive
Michael Chavis (1-4, 2 K)
- Though a 1-4 day isn’t inherently bad, it’s discouraging to see Chavis continue to strike out at such a high rate. This two-strikeout game means that he has punched out over a third of the time this season and he hasn’t come close to showing the type of power that makes those strikeout issues acceptable. Chavis is still young and has a bright future, but this is a definite point that he needs to work on.

Short Season-A Lowell Spinners
Victor Acosta (2-4, 2 R, K)
- Acosta isn’t a widely-known Red Sox prospect, but he has been excellent in Lowell this season, slashing .452/.484/.613 through 8 games so far. The Venezuelan third baseman has shown the ability to hit for some power through the low minors and he’s performing well thus far as a 19 year old.

GCL Red Sox
Anderson Espinoza (4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K)
- Espinoza’s second start in the GCL remarkably goes even better than his first as the 17-year old phenom’s stateside debut is going about as well as could be expected. With five punchouts in four scoreless innings, he is delivering on the hype that he garnered as the top pitcher on the international market last summer.
Nicholos Hamilton (1-3, BB, 2 K)
- Hamilton, a speedy outfielder whom the Red Sox drafted in the 11th round this season, makes his first in-game appearance in the Red Sox organization. He’s very raw in almost all facets of his game but his speed is a huge asset, with most scouts grading it as an 80 on the 20-80 scale, and could make him a useful player if he develops.
Henry Ramos (2-3, R, BB)
