• McAvoy was Boston’s fourth round pick in the 2014 draft as a local boy out of Bryant College in Rhode Island. He hasn’t been perfect in his first year in the Red Sox organization, but he did skip Low-A Greenville entirely and has managed a 4.06 ERA with a huge groundball rate in 14 starts with Salem.
