Week two in the Arizona Fall League was the first full week of games. Games did not start until Tuesday in the first week. Sunday is an off-day for all teams. This week saw the Surprise Saguaros fall to 5-6 and second place in the Western Division.
Let’s take a look at the numbers for the Red Sox players:
Hitters
Rusney Castillo cooled off a bit in terms of batting average, going 5 for 19, but he did stroke three doubles. Rusney continues to lead the league in runs scored with 10.
Sean Coyle also didn’t have the best week, going 2 for 10 with a double. He has managed to walk four times in 21 plate appearances, but has also struck out six times.
Deven Marrero had a rough week as well, going only 3 for 17 but he continues to draw walks, with three this week. He is only batting .217 (5 for 23) but has a .379 OBP. Marrero spent this week as the DH for the Saguaros.
Pitchers
Keith Couch turned in another strong pitching performance, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and no walks, though he did not get the win this time.
Aaron Kurcz notched his first save with the Saguaros, continuing his scoreless pitching. He surrendered three unearned runs in one of his appearances. Kurcz has struck out six in four innings.
Madison Younginer pitched in only one scoreless appearance this week.
Robby Scott surrendered his first run of the AFL season on a solo homer, walking one and allowing two hits in two innings.
