Although he still won’t be available for spring training, Ryan Kalish has put his latest injury odyssey behind him. Wednesday Dr. Lewis Yocum performed a right shoulder arthroscopy and posterior labrum repair of Kalish’s non-throwing right shoulder in Loa Angeles.
The once top prospect but injury plagued 24-year old has endured multiple setbacks and surgeries during his short career. In 2011 Kalish had back-to-back surgeries on a bulging disk in his neck and repair of a labrum tear in his left throwing shoulder.
Teammate and fellow competitor for left-field playing time, Daniel Nava, tweeted, “Praying my boy @Ryan_Kalish that he has a great surgery and gets healthy real soon. We’ll be missin ya buddy!” Leveraging the same medium, Kalished tweeted post-surgery, “I really am feeling the love on my surgery today. I really appreciate all of you.”
In the wake of Kalish’s injury Boston secured another one-year deal with former non-tendered now back in the fold Ryan Sweeney.
