Pain In Neck: Dice-K Shut Down

It appears that the figurative pain that Red Sox Nation has felt when watching or reading about Daisuke Matsuzaka over the past three years has, for Matsuzaka, finally manifested itself in physical reality.

After so-so starts in the minors while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, Dice-K was shut down Sunday after experiencing a pain in his neck. Welcome to the club. Matsuzaka received an injection in his right trapezius muscle after experiencing stiffness.

By shutting down Matsuzaka, Boston can essentially restart his 30-day minor league rehab clock, which was due to expire.
