Notes From Fridays Red Sox Game: Buchholz Struggles

After allowing just a run in five innings his last time out against the Rays, Buchholz just didn’t have it against the Orioles today.

The line on Buchholz looks like this, 5IP, 7H, 5ER, 1 BB, 3K

The bigger concern was the 2 HR that Buchholz gave up in the game. One coming in the first inning off the bat of Adam Jones and the other from Nick Markakis in the third. Both were two run homers.

“Red Sox Killer” Robert Andino drove in the other two runs with a softly lined single to right field in the sixth inning.

The Red Sox’ offense came from a Jason Repko single in the second and a wild pitch thrown by Jason Hammel. Mauro Gomez drove in a run in the sixth, Drew Hedman had a sac fly in the seventh and Daniel Nava had an RBI single in the eighth but the Sox offense would run out just short in the 6-5 loss.

Notes From The Game:

Matt Albers threw a pair of scoreless innings bringing his spring ERA to 3.86

–With a 3 for 3 performance, Darnell McDonald has a batting average of .500 for the spring. (12-24)

Injury Updates:

Dustin Pedroia‘s X-Ray was negative, he should be available in the next couple days.

Franklin Morales made his first spring appearance on Wednesday, pitching a scoreless inning in relief.
