Is today Darvish Deadline Doom Day for Sox? No WS until 2020?

Darvish Deadline Day today [5 PM ET] and we will know in a few hours whether the Rangers will sign BOTH Prince Fielder [done deal] and the young Yu [50/50].

We are revising the odds on the outcomes, thusly:

"Chances Rangers will sign Prince Fielder: 100 in 100 Chances they sign Darvish, not Fielder: 0 in 100 Chances they sign Darvish, then Fielder 50 in 100"

And, chances that signing Fielder essentially keeps the Sox out of the World Series for the next seven years: 90 in 100.

As we noted earlier:

"“Until Prince Fielder officially signs with the Rangers after the Darvish Deadline [next Wednesday, January 18th at 5 p.m. ET], the Texas organization must maintain the appearance of negotiating in good faith with the Japanese pitcher, or risk running afoul of anti-trust laws, which could then cause MLB to lose its sweetheart exemption.”"

Here is the latest Texas plan:

Spend no more than $220 million for BOTH.

Since Prince will take a 7-year deal for $154 million…

Offer Darvish $65 million in a 6-year contract, which must start low in 2012 and ramp up and let him take it or leave it.

Sox fans can still hope that the Nationals will rush in with a better offer, so they can still dream about another World Series Championship, before 2020.
