Music to my ears, Don Orsillo will be calling Red Sox games for at least four more years. The announcing tandem of Orisllo and Jerry Remy is the best in the business. That is my opinion and I’m sticking to it. I have heard many greats along the years. I heard the great Howard Cosell, Curt Gowdy, Jack Buck and Vince Scully for example. I put Orsillo in their category. He is smart and funny. Combine him with Remy and it is a night of entertainment.
We all know baseball can be a little slow at times, but Orsillo and Remy keep you interested. Is their anything better than when the Sox are blowing a team out and you can sit back and just listen to the banter between these two? Sometimes, it is so hysterical that you forget there is a ballgame being played. Take for instance this past year when the two of them were trying to find Remy a hobby. That was quality TV. Finding something for the cankerous Remy could do that would keep him away from the general population. Laugh out loud, rolling on the floor funny. Orsillo also has a voice that captures the flare for the dramatic and the moment. Have you ever heard some of these other teams’ broadcasters when you see a highlight from a game? If you haven’t, try it. You will be even more grateful that we have one as special as Mr. Don Orsillo. He is the best around and I hope when these next four years are up, that he signs on for another four.
