Since my pre season pick of the Red Sox beating the Atlanta Braves was clearly off the mark, I thought I would give it another stab.
ALDS
NY Yankees vs the Detroit Tigers. This series is going to be decided by one man-Justin Verlander. I think the Yankees MUST win game one to have a real shot here. Yes, the Yankees had the best record in the American League, but their pitching is very suspect. I think Ivan Nova is a good match up in game two. Putting my hatred for the Yankees aside, I am picking Detroit. If the Yankees steal game one from Verlander, I think they have a better than 50-50 chance to win, I just don’t see Verlander losing today.Â
Tampa Bay Rays vs Texas Rangers. Tampa had to fight and claw their way into the playoffs but now that they are there, beware. I think they have the best pitching staff of any team in the playoffs in the American League. Texas has a great offense and very good pitching. Tampa bay is going out on the limb and starting rookie Matt Moore for game one. Risky? Maybe, but dopn’t forget David Price a few years back. I like Tampa Bay in this series. I do think it has the potential to go five games. I think Tampa gets their revenge for last years loss to these Rangers.
ALCS
Detroit Tigers vs Tampa Bay Rays. Pitching , pitching and more pitching. If both teams get this far, then this is going to be a classic series. Low scoring games in each. My head is saying go with Detroit but my heart is with Tampa bay. Tampa Bay has a never say die attitude. they play hard for their manager and how can you ever count out the ageless, Johnny Damon. All Damon has ever done is win and I expect him to bring the Rays to the promise land.
NLDS
Philadelphia Phillies vs St Louis Cardinals. Like Tampa Bay the Cardinals pulled off the improbable. Unfortunately, I think their season is going to come to and end quickly.  I just don’t see how the Cardinals can beat this pitching staff. I wouldn’t be surprised in the Phillies swept the Cardinals. More likely to go four games with the Phillies moving on.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Arizona Diamondbacks. I compare this years Arizona team to last years, Cincinnati Reds. Great Cinderella story and a team to root for, but like the Cardinals their season will be ending in this series. The Brewers have just enough pitching and Prince Fielder is on a mission.Â
NLCS
Best series in the post season. Both teams are evenly matched. I think the Phillies have the best starting rotation, but if the Brewers can keep it close and let the bullpens decide the outcome, they will be in good shape. I am going to pick the Brewers. I just think they can compete with anyone.
World Series
Milwaukee Brewers vs Tampa Bay Rays. How can you not root for either of these teams?  Hank Aaron brought the city of Milwaukee their last championship, back in 1957 and Tampa Bay has never had a World Series winner. This is going to be a tough series. The Rays have the better pitching and the Brewers the better hitting. If the old adage comes in play, good pitching beats good hitting, then the Tampa Bay Rays will be World Champions.   I’m on the fence on this one. Good thing i’m not a betting man. I am going to pick the Brewers, only because they have the homefield advantage. The Brewers struggled all year on the road but was dominate at home. Their 57-29 home record was the best in all of baseball. I think the Prince and Brew crew will be celebrating a World Championship this year.
