Root Root For the Yankees?
With a slim two game lead for the AL Wild Card, the Boston Red Sox will be calling on their biggest rival to be one of their best allies tonight.
The New York Yankees open up a four game series against the surging Tampa Bay Rays tonight in the Bronx. For an entire Red Sox Nation, it will be one eye on the Red Sox game and one eye on the out of town scoreboard. Everyone involved with the Red Sox are hoping the Yankees can cool off the Rays and help the Red Sox possibly extend their Wild Card lead over Tampa Bay.

The Yankees haven’t sewn up the division title by any means as their lead over Boston is five games, the same number as their magic number to clinch. So at least for these four games against Tampa Bay we should see a pretty solid Yankees lineup every night.
Tonight’s pitching matchup in the Bronx has the Yankees sending Ivan Nova (15-4, 3.81 ERA) against Tampa Bay’s, Wade Davis (10-9, 4.41 ERA).
I never thought I would be saying this, but Go Yankees?
