As a nice break from the everyday ritual of writing about the Red Sox and how they are on the verge of an epic collapse, I thought we’d change it up a little and look at other things within MLB.
One of the major headlines within the sport of baseball is the upcoming release of the major motion picture movie “Moneyball”. It’s a documentary on the Oakland A’s general manger, Billy Beane and how he introduced a completely new and untested system to Major League Baseball; the sabremetrics system.

In short, Beane’s formula of building a baseball club is focused solely around Bill James’ new found sabremetrics system that puts importance on on-base percentage and not so much batting average. For pitchers, it’s more about how many base runners are allowed rather than ERA.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the past month, you’ve probably seen the trailer for this movie. You already know that Brad Pitt and the always funny, Jonah Hill star in the Columbia Productions film that opens this Friday, September 23, so there is no shortage of star power.
For those of you that haven’t seen the trailer, it’s included above so check it out. For those that have seen it over and over again, well you’re like me and obviously get jacked up everytime that the AC/DC tune “Moneytalks” kicks in. I get goosebumps everytime that song starts in the preview and it gets my hyped for the postseason. There really isn’t anyting better than October baseball. I just hope the Red Sox make it so I can continue to get “jacked” up.
