Scutaro The Latest To Sick Bay

With starting pitcher Josh Beckett already having a start moved back to Saturday due to illness, Marco Scutaro is the latest Red Sox member to make a trip to sick bay.

Scutaro was scratched just prior to the start of the series finale against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon, citing he was ill and could not make the start at shortstop.

With Scutaro out of the lineup, rookie Drew Sutton got the start in the number 6 position.  Sutton is batting .314 in 17 games so far this season.

The shortstop position has been a bit of a revolving door this season, with Scutaro missing over a month with an oblique injury and the latest coming to Jed Lowrie with a shoulder injury.

It is not known at this point how long Scutaro will be out for.

On Beckett’s front, it’s been reported that he is extremely sick with what is being deemed as just the stomach flu.  There is a chance that Beckett will miss his next start which was scheduled for this Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Something nasty appears to be circulating through the Red Sox clubhouse and it’s starting to take it’s toll on some of the players.  Let’s hope they disinfect the clubhouse, Beckett and Scutaro return soon and they are the only two affected.
