Everything is going to be OK- even Crawford
It’s possible you like Carl Crawford for his team spirit and his overwhelming ability to get the job done, or maybe you like the presence he brings to the plate- the wide smile and broad fame. It doesn’t matter which one means more to you, all that matters is the fact we saw none of those on Opening Day or the second game. The media build up on Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford put Red Sox nation in awe, but as you know we faced a difficult loss twice. Most fans left their television set either angry or disappointed with the pitching staff, however, as a true Crawford fan, I was thinking, Where’s the real Crawford?
I am still under the impression, you need to get on base before you steal one. If I am correct then after his performances should we be worried? Honestly, I don’t think after two games we should be completely worried about anyone. I might be reading too much in to this but if I remember last year correctly, the Tampa Bays Rays were beaten by the Texas Rangers 5-1 in the postseason. In that game Carl Crawford went 0-4, something sounds familiar. Perhaps, he was having three bad days or maybe he just can’t face Rangers hitting. Looking at his stats against the Rangers more in depth led me to believe it has always been hit or miss for him (no pun intended). He might shoot one out of the ballpark or might stand at the plate with an 0-4 record. I guess that is the way it goes, and hopefully today he can pick up some slack, if he is in the game at all.
On a happier note, Adrian Gonzalez is living up to expectations which is honestly unbelievable because our expectations were really high.
David Ortiz has managed to start his 2011 season hitting home runs when we need them the most.
Jacoby Ellsberry has been fantastic when it comes to getting on base and stealing them.
Kevin Youkilis is better than we ever saw this Spring. (Which is a very good thing)
It seems as long as we leave starting pitching out of this equation we have some hope as far as winning one of these games vs. Texas.
And now we wait…
