Ortiz Tells Media to [Bleep] Off
After a tough [bleeping] loss to the New York Yankees on Tuesday night, Ortiz was spitting [bleeping] fire in the clubhouse. When asking David Ortiz questions about his slow start (0-7, K, BB in 2 games) the big slugger let [bleeping] loose and dropped more swears than a drunk Irish sailor on St. Patty’s Day. Note to the media, don’t bring up last year’s mammoth [bleeping] slump in front of Ortiz, because it is apparently still a sore [bleeping] subject.
You guys wait till [expletive] happens, then you can talk [expletive]. Two [expletive] games, and already you [expletives] are going crazy. What’s up with that, man? [Expletive]. [Expletive] 160 games left. That’s a [expletive]. One of you [expletives] got to go ahead and hit for me. – David Ortiz after Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees
Now I understand Ortiz’s slump last year was [bleeping] monstrous and there is ton of pressure on Papi to perform well early on in 2010, but give me a [bleeping] break. It’s been two [bleeping] games with 7 ABs, and 3 of them were against a ridiculously talent lefty, C.C. [bleeping] Sabathia. You can talk about his slow bat speed and all that [bleep] and reignite the conversation that his career is over, but do you [bleeping] recall the second half of Ortiz’s season in 2009?
After hitting a [bleeping] horrible .185 with 1 HR in April and May last season, Ortiz hit .265 with 27 [bleeping] HRs from June to October. As Ortiz gets older, it takes him a few [bleeping] games to get his timing down. Be [bleeping] patient and give Ortiz a chance to get comfortable. You know what, strike that. Don’t be patient, just pass [bleeping] judgment before the Red Sox even finish one [bleeping] series. All the [bleeping] media attention will certainly help the big slugger focus on his job at the plate.
Before you call me [bleeping] naive or [bleeping] crazy, let me say I understand members of the media are trying to sell [bleeping] headlines. I [bleeping] get that, but give me a [bleeping] break. It [bleeping] pisses me off as much as it angered Ortiz last night, because all the [bleeping] negativity is detrimental to Papi and the entire Red Sox team. If in a week or two Ortiz still doesn’t have a [bleeping] hit, then we can talk about last year, but for now, give me a mother [bleeping] break.
