Road to the Fort

Less than 12 hours after I bashed Truck Day (check out my post here) and attempted to suggest ideas to improve the event, one of my ideas was fulfilled. There can only be two explanations for the painting on the Atlas Van Lines truck this afternoon. The first, and most likely, is that the Sox and Wally were looking for as much advertising as possible for Jet Blue and the ‘Jetsetting with Wally’ contest. The second, and my favorite explanation, is that the Sox management read my post late last night and decided to paint the truck overnight to add excitement to February 12th. Fat chance.

As I have mentioned on several occasions, regardless of my feelings on the lack-luster event we all celebrate as Truck Day, the symbol of equipment traveling to Fort Myers is important. With anticipation and excitement, I am ready for Spring Training to begin and for games to begin shortly after. This is a great opportunity to review some of the most important dates coming up for the Sox over the next few weeks.

Thursday, Feb. 18 — Pitchers and catchers report
Saturday, Feb. 20 — Pitchers and catchers first workout
Monday, Feb. 22 — All players report
Wednesday, Feb. 24 — First full-squad workout

Truck Day means we are one step closer to on-field action. I think I speak for most fans when I say, Play Ball!
