As promised here’s the continuing up to the moment look at the much heated races for the AL Wild Card. So without further ado it’s Day 3 of “The Chase” which will determine the winner of the final playoff spot. With the clock slowly ticking down nearing the end of MLB’s regular season, it’s do or die time for some of these American League clubs. As each and every game now becomes that more important.
Leading The Pack– Boston Red Sox
Moving Up Fast ‘N’ Furious – Texas Rangers 2 1/2 Back
Holding Their Own – Tampa Bay Rays & Seattle Mariners 7 1/2 Back
Just About Lifeless– Minnesota Twins 10 Back & Chicago White Sox 11 Back
Monday’s Winners– Twins & White Sox
Monday’s Losers– Red Sox, Rays (2)
Day Off – Mariners & Postponed – Rangers
It was a nice day for the Mariners as two things happened for them. One they got to enjoy a much needed off day and two they managed to gain a half game in the standings, as the Red Sox lost. The same can’t be said for the Rays who actually lost (more like got smoked) in their day/night doubleheader with the NY Yankees on Labor Day. The weather forced the Rangers/Indians game to be postponed, allowing the Rangers time to rest and relax.
