Over the last two days the Boston Red Sox have had a flurry of activity going on. I thought I’d help out and keep you aware of the latest updates concerning all the roster moves, for the Sox as they have made quite a few moves. First off they started the day on Friday by making a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. As the two teams exchanged shortstops, coming to the Sox was an old friend and a familiar face in Alex Gonzalez.
Gonzalez for those of you who might remember was originally with the club back in 2006. Going from the Sox to the Reds in the deal was minor leaguer, Kristopher Negron. But the moves didn’t stop there, as today the Sox made a few more roster changes. Starting when they optioned both SS Chris Woodward and CF Josh Reddick back to the Sox minor league affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox. Receiving the call up to fill one of the vacated spots left by Woodward and Reddick was CF Brian Anderson.
Now in case you might have forgotten Anderson came over to Boston from the Chicago White Sox. In the deal that sent CF Mark Kotsay to the White Sox, shortly before the July 31st trade deadline. Filling the other roster spot that’s open on the Sox 25 man roster will be the newly acquired Gonzalez. Both Anderson and Gonzalez, are expected to join the Sox on Saturday, in Texas. Where the Sox, are currently playing a very BIG series as far the the AL Wild Card is concerned, with the Texas Rangers.
