Yankees Lose Again! But They Looked Good In Those Uniforms!
What a night it was for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, vs the New York Yankees! The fans definitely got their moneys worth this evening, well the Boston fans did. The Yankee fans who were in attendance, they weren’t so happy after seeing their teams performance. That’s not to say they didn’t have a few things to cheer about on the night. As they lost for the sixth time vs Boston this season, but they looked good in those uniforms!
They did manage to get on base a few times throughout the night as the team from the Bronx managed 2 hits in the entire game vs Boston’s pitching. Plus let’s not forget they received 4 free passes to the base-paths via the walk. After that from an offensive stand point it was pretty bleak for the Yankees going up against Josh Beckett.
The Yankees who spent $82.5 million on A.J. Burnett in the off-season, didn’t get $82.50 out of him on the mound. As the stiff (one of many on their staff) couldn’t even make it out of the 3rd inning. Which forced him to make the long “walk of shame” from the mound to the dugout, as the Boston faithful gave him a well deserved round of applause. Just a nice gesture of their appreciation for that crappy performance he displayed. The one’s true Yankee fans have grown accustomed to seeing over the last year or so.
As a Red Sox my entire life, it’s always a thrill and great joy when we not only beat the Yankees. But slap them around and make them cry like the little girls, they truly are. With tonight being one of those nights as the Boston batters did their jobs, in providing run support in backing Beckett. The victory by Boston and Beckett improves his record to 7-2 on the season. Plus it propels the Red Sox back into first place in the AL East, tied with the Yankees. The loss drops poor Burnett to 4-3, which I’m sure isn’t thrilling the New York fans.
So for the moment it’s 6-0 in favor of the Sox in the “Good vs Evil” year long battle! Boston sends Tim Wakefield, who’s being opposed by Chien-Ming Wang for New York, to the mound in the game 2 of this series. Or otherwise known as Episode 7 in the saga of “Good (Red Sox) vs Evil (Yankees)”. Let’s enjoy this for the time being and get ready to once again cheer on the Sox.
