SOX WIN! SOX WIN!

SOX WIN!  SOX WIN!  LMAO, I know it’s pretty bad when you’re excited for a victory this early into the season, but a win’s a win and I’ll take it.  For only the second time in five games on their final West coast trip of the season, the Boston Red Sox win!  After being unable to hold the lead on Friday night vs the Seattle Mariners, the Sox just closed them out tonight for a 5-3 victory over Seattle.  With this victory they now improve their road record to 9-11 on the season.

Making this victory even sweeter is the way the Sox accomplished it, which was using the long-ball.  As the Sox scored all of their runs via the home-run, which came from Jason Bay (11th), Jason Varitek (5th) and another solo shot from Jeff Bailey (2nd).  With all the offense being provided by those three, it was then up to Josh Beckett to provide the defense, and boy oh boy did he ever provide it.  Beckett went seven strong innings only allowing four hits and three runs, while striking out five Mariners in getting his fourth victory on the season.

** Quick game note David Ortiz sat out his second straight game on this road trip, plus it’s looking like he’ll be out of action again on Sunday.  Could it be the wrist bothering him now after he was hit earlier this past week at Fenway?  Can it be fatigue early on or just manager Terry Francona allowing his struggling slugger a few days off?  Who knows at this time, but if the Sox can continue to win without “Big Papi” in the line-up I say give him all the time he needs to fix whatever is wrong!**
