If you loved Cody Ross last year as a member of the Boston Red Sox, you can simply shut your eyes, cover your ears and chant “la, la, la, la” through this post.

It’s over. Ross and the Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly put together a three-year, $26 million deal. According to NBC Sports’ D.J. Short, the deal includes a club option for 2016 which carries a $1 million buyout. Ross made $3 million with Boston last year, making this decision a no brainer.

It’s no surprise Ross left Boston. What is a surprise is that he went to Arizona, with whom he hadn’t been linked all during the off-season. Ross’ signing makes for a crowded house in Arizona what with Justin Upton, Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra and Adam Eaton already on the team. Expect a move from D’Backs GM Kevin Towers, possibly to deal Kubel.

Good for Cody. He’s a great person. Anyone who could be likable and produce as a member of the Red Sox in 2012 has to have something special going on.

You met you your match
When you play with my affection
You met you your match
When you tried to make me walk the line
When you decided you would hurt me
That’s when your grape feel off the vine
