I’m Onboard the Bobby Valentine Express

Since the last game of the season, I like many of you have been angry at this team.  The Red Sox have had more negative press about them than positive.  I have gone thru the gametes of emotions, shock, anger, disgust and sadness.  That change a little last night.  I’m on board with the Bobby Valentine express.  For the first time since Robert Andino’s fly ball fell in front of the sliding Carl Crawford, I have a sense of optimism.

I enjoyed Bobby V’s introduction last night.  I was a little concerned at the very beginning when he got a little choked up and emotional.  I was thinking that maybe he felt like the job was a little over his head and he was surprised to be there.  Then the charismatic and feisty persona came out.  I think the nine plus years out of the Major leagues did him some good.  He gave me the feeling that he was ready to take the bull by the horns and get right to work.  He wants to reach out to the veterans like Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis.  He handled the media’s questions with ease.  He was responsive and honest.  He also was entertaining.  I found Ben Cherington a tad boring and robotic, but I think they found the right man for the Manager’s position.  He plans on talking with every player on the team.  Some in person and some on the phone.  He was positive and upbeat.  Bobby V also hinted that there was an opportunity for Bill Buckner to be one of his coaches.  Can you imagine the return of Billy Buck?  Time heals all wounds.

Will all of this lead to wins next year and hopefully the World Championship everyone thought they would have this year?  I don’t know.  What I do know is I’m all in on Bobby V.
