Justin Masterson is 3-0, In Case You Weren’t Paying Attention

Just in case you have been wallowing in your beer and not paying attention, Justin Masterson of the Cleveland Indians  is 3-0 to start the season.  This 6’6″ , 26 year old from Jamaica Mon has only allowed three earned run in 20 and 1/3 innings for an ERA of 1.33.  Last night he shut down the Baltimore Orioles as the Indians cruised to an 8-2 win.

Let’s see if I have this right, this pitcher has more wins than the entire Red Sox team after 12 games this year.  His team is now tied with the (gulp) Kansas City Royals for first place in the AL Central.  What kind of world do we live in when the Indian and Royals are in first place while the Red Sox are the worst team in all of baseball?

Good for Masterson, I have always liked him and it was only a matter of time before he would show the baseball world what a winner he is.  I have heard him interview on MLBnetworkradio a few times.  He is great kid , who has knowledge and respect for the game , but also a tremendous sense of humor to go along with it.  Looks to me like he is a winner on and off the field.  It would be for the game if the Cleveland Indians were this years Cinderella team.

I only have one question.  Why can’t we have pitchers like him?
