Familiar Voices in the Booth

As we hit the home stretch of the the off-season, with just over a month left until pitchers and catchers report, I begin to get excited for the upcoming campaign. I realize all of the little things I miss during the off-season. Sitting watching the Boston University vs. Boston College hockey game outside at Fenway last night, I was reminded of a member of the NESN broadcast team who often gets overlooked: Tom Caron.

TC has been a staple on the NESN pre and post-game coverage for the last several years. His analysis and knowledge of New England sports teams, both college and professional, make him a perfect fit in the NESN studios. As a native New Englander, TC knows what it means to be a fan of Boston sports teams.

Beginning his professional career covering the Vermont Reds, the AA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, TC quickly moved up to cover the Montreal Canadiens and Montreal Expos in upstate New York for a local television station. After spending time at a station in New Hampshire, TC spent 5 years in Portland, ME as the sports anchor for WGME-TV, producing segments and half-hours sports shows. In 1995, TC joined the NESN team where he has covered every team possible in one capacity or another.

During the baseball season, TC spends the majority of his time on Red Sox coverage, but also covers plenty of college and professional hockey. TC sounds relaxed and knowledgable in whatever sport he is covering whether is is as a play-by-play announcer or a studio analyst, because New England sports are his life and his passion. There is a revolving door on the Sox pre and post game shows, but the one constant is TC, and because of that, the quality of the analysis and information is never in doubt.
