Red Sox Send Cervenka To Cubs, Complete Byrd Trade

The Red Sox announced today that they have completed the trade that saw Marlon Byrd acquired from the Chicago Cubs.  Along with Michael Bowden, the Sox agreed to send a player to be named later who turned out to be Hunter Cervenka, courtesy of Alex Speier of WEEI.com via Twitter.

Cervenka, a left-handed pitcher, was drafted in the 27th round of the 2008 amateur draft by the Red Sox and through four seasons in the minor leagues he has an ERA of 5.97 with a 1.702 WHIP.  This season at class-A Greenville, Cervenka has a 8.04 ERA with 13.8 K/9 and 6.9 BB/9 in 15.2 innings of work.

He was recently involved in the perfect game that the was thrown in Greenville.
