Tzu-Wei Lin has provided a somewhat fundamental, do all the little things right type spark with the Boston Red Sox. Is here here to stay?
Tzu-Wei Lin looks to provide the Boston Red Sox with versatility around the infield.
That’s right Red Sox fans, if you look at your everyday lineup card these days, Lin is more than likely going to be in the starting nine for Boston. Which quickly and rather surprisingly has people asking, “WHO?”
Tzu-Wei Lin, (pronounced Zoo-Way) is a 23-year old infielder from Kaohsiung County, Taiwan. Until this year, Lin has never been above Double-A Portland. It raises questions regarding the Red Sox depth, but more importantly their problem area at third base.

While Lin is primarily playing third base. With the likes of Deven Marrero, he has already shown some versatility, playing shortstop and second base, thus giving Xander Bogaerts and Dustin Pedroia a night off here and there.
Since being called up on June 24, Lin has batted .360. He’s seemingly done just enough that the team needs from playing different positions, knocking in runs, and bunting successfully when the time calls for it.
Now that Lin is up to the Majors, the question becomes, how long will he stay? This question may be answered when the Red Sox get a better picture of when Brock Holt may return, as well as if Pablo Sandoval comes back from his recent DL stint and starts to play like his contract says he should.

For the time being, get used to pronouncing Tzu-Wei Lin, as he on most nights will be penciled in somewhere on the diamond until the Red Sox figure out their depth and third base problems they currently face.
