Report: Red Sox agree to trade Jake Peavy to the Giants

Well this should get the ball rolling.

In what will most likely be the first of a few Boston trades in the coming days, the Red Sox have agreed to trade Jake Peavy to the Giants for two minor league prospects. CBSSports.com was the first to report the deal.

In return for Peavy, the Sox will receive Edwin Escobar and Heath HembreeEscobar and Hembree are the second and eleventh ranked prospects, respectively, in the Giants system, according to MLB.com.

Peavy leaves Boston with a 1-9 record and a 4.72 ERA. He has been pitching better lately, but has been a victim of poor run support and hasn’t won a game since May 1. He was seen as the most likely player to be moved once the Red Sox were deemed out of contention.
