Video: David Ortiz hits a game-winning three-run bomb

With two on and one out in the top of the ninth inning, David Ortiz did what he does best, hitting what would turn out to be a game-winning three-run home run to end the Red Sox five-game losing streak.

For Sox fans, the home run is a welcome sight as Ortiz has been scuffling, with two hits in the past ten games.

“They wouldn’t have thrown one near the strike zone if that dude wasn’t standing on deck,” Lackey said.

With Mike Napoli making his return off the DL last night, it makes you wonder if Ortiz saw such a good pitch because Napoli was in the on-deck circle. Napoli had already blasted a home run earlier in the game and had also added a walk and a single; it was almost safer to pitch to the struggling Ortiz.

Hopefully this can propel the Sox to another winning streak. Another sweep with a loss last night would have been tough to swallow, but the Sox have to be feeling pretty good that they were able to get the win.
