Multiple sources have reported that Daniel Nava will be sent to Pawtucket and Alex Wilson will be recalled. The official pronouncement from the Boston Red Sox should take place prior to the Wednesday game with the New York Yankees.
Nava’s slow start and the fact he had options available combined to facilitate this move. Wilson will be available for a depleted bullpen and will probably be returned to Pawtucket on Thursday when Shane Victorino is activated from the disabled list prior to the last game of the New York series.
Nava, a well documented feel good story, has had a horrific beginning to 2014 with a batting average of .149 with two home runs and three RBI. Nava, who had an OPS of .831 in 2013, has seen that number dissipated to .509 in 2014.
The Red Sox now have, at least temporarily, resolved their outfield situation with the demotion of Nava.
