It’s Opening Day, Red Sox fans. You’ve been itching for the season to start. You’re tweeting about it. You’re talking it up in the office (if you didn’t take the day off from work):

This feels like an opportunity to review a great moment in American cinema:

The Red Sox visit beautiful Oriole Park at Camden Yards this afternoon for Game 1 of their World Series title defense. BoSox Injection has all the relevant info below.

You can join our live game thread from the first pitch to the final out in the Disqus comment section. Several BSI writers will be stopping by this afternoon to talk about the action.

First Pitch: 3:05pm ET
Venue: Oriole Park at Camden Yards – Baltimore, MD
Starting Pitchers: Jon Lester (2013: 15-8, 3.75) vs. Chris Tillman (2013: 16-7, 3.71)
Radio: WEEI 93.7 FM Boston (find your local affiliate on the Red Sox radio network)

As Conor Duffy posted earlier today, Shane Victorino hit the DL and Jackie Bradley will join the team in Baltimore. Bradley is out of the lineup today, though. Daniel Nava will lead off and play right field in Victorino’s absence.

I’ve got an inch of fresh snow outside, but nothing is going to put a damper on this day! Let’s go Sox!

I’ve got the ESPN radio broadcast on Tune-In. Nervous as a cat!

TuneIn is such a handy app. I should’ve mentioned that in the broadcast info – there are so many new ways to access sports.

Opening Day is always a great day!

Very interested to see how Nelson Cruz works out for the O’s. I thought it was a bad signing because of his lackluster athleticism but he could be a huge piece if Showalter is wise and slots him in the DH role.

O’s also added David Lough, who is very athletic. He’ll be the defensive component in the outfield to spell Young, Markakis or Jones when needed.

Red Sox are using a lot of caution this spring: batting Sizemore down in the order and shelving Victorino at the first sign or trouble. They obviously feel their depth can get them through, especially at this early stage.

Wonder what Stephen Drew is up to today …

Sizemore raps a base hit…nice! But hey, even Tony Clark had a big Opening Day back in ’02. Cautious optimism here!

Sox getting the ducks on the pond. … Gotta get ‘em home though!

Just when you thought Big Papi was finished because he only had two hits in spring training…

Defense is tight so far. Farrell will like that!

Even worse than that Nelson Cruz home run, the “SO GOOD” Ford commercials are back in heavy rotation in the Boston area…
