Smell the glove: Wilson delivers to Pedroia and Red Sox teammates

We’ve all heard about Truck Day. Man, does New England get fired up for Truck Day.

So you can imagine the excitement of Major League Baseball players for Glove Day.

Dustin Pedroia, A.J. Pierzynski, Clay Buchholz, Mike Napoli, Jonny Gomes and other Red Sox teammates recently got their gear courtesy of Wilson sporting goods when Master Craftsman Shigeaki Aso and his team visited Jet Blue Park:

You can see Pedroia’s eyes light up discussing the tools of his trade and his relationship with Aso, who helped him through a painful thumb injury last season. With the injury healed, Pedey’s looking to flash some leather and grab his fourth Gold Glove in 2014. Also, check out Pierzynski name-dropping Terry Steinbach.

The vid reminds me of my first glove: a Wilson A2180 George Brett model (which I crammed on my hand to take the below picture). Back in those days, I had aspirations of one day manning the hot corner for the Red Sox. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite have corner infield power and wound up picking dandelions in left most of the time.
