“Game of inches” Grand Slam or Sox Out of ALCS

Another example of the baseball truism—“a game of inches”—was how Tigers CF Torri Hunter came within just inches of turning Big Papi’s miracle Grand Slam into the “nail in the coffin” out of the ALCS for the Red Sox.

Take a careful look at the video [0:18 to 0:23] and you will see that Hunter actually over-ran the ball.  He says on the video [0:24 to 0:30] that, during the last few seconds, as he made his leap: “I lost it in the lights for a second.”

Also notice that the Sox bullpen catcher caught the ball on the fly. [0:30]
