Papi Powers Through Start of Rehab Stint with Pawtucket

Things are looking up these days for David Ortiz and the Red Sox. Papi started his rehab stint off with a bang Thursday night, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Paw Sox.

SI.com reported that Ortiz told reporters before the game, ““When it comes down to hitting, I haven’t played in a while, so you just want go back to that zone that everybody knows you need to be able to dominate once you get to the bigs, because otherwise, it’ll give you a hard time,” Ortiz said, according to ESPN.com. “On the other hand, I want to make sure my foot is doing well.”

Thursday night he reportedly ran without pain. As reported by the New York Daily News, Ortiz said, “I feel fine. That’s the important thing, to be able to run around the bases and be able to move around and be able to do that with freedom — without hesitation.”

Now we’ll wait for the really big news. Do his heels hurt today?
