According to multiple reports, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona will interview for the Cleveland Indians’ 2013 manager job. Sandy Alomar Jr., interim Indians manager after the firing of Manny Acta with six games remaining in the 2012 season, has also been mentioned as a candidate for the job.

Given Francona’s resume and considering his longtime friendship with Indians general manager Chris Anotonelli the odds at this point tilt in Francona’s favor.

USA Today’s Joshua Barnett reported that Francona said,  “I wouldn’t come in an interview if I wasn’t interested. They have some things to get in order. I know Sandy Alomar is also a candidate and I’m sure they’ll be doing their homework.”

Alomar, who played for the Indians from 1990 to 2000 and served as first-base coach last season and bench coach this season, has no previous managerial experience.
