Poll Results: Red Sox Nation Prefers Matt Garza in Trade Options

We asked and you the readers delivered again.  In our latest poll we set out to find out who the Red Sox should potentially trade for if they go that route to bolster their starting rotation.  There were five options in total, three that named a particular starter: Matt Garza (Cubs), Gavin Floyd (White Sox), Wandy Rodriguez (Astros), a pitcher not named and no trade, everything is fine.

When the voting first began, Floyd was the clear front runner, but when the poll’s closed the White Sox hurler finished in third place with 17% of the votes.

Taking this poll with 36% of the 163 total votes cast was Matt Garza.  Red Sox Nation once again feels that if the Sox are going to make a move and trade for a pitcher, Garza is the best option out there even though Garza ran his mouth a month ago about how he enjoyed kicking the Red Sox butts when he played in Tampa.

So far this spring the reports have minimized over Garza and the Cubs discussing an extension.  Should a deal not be worked out by July then I would expect the Cubs to deal Garza with the price tag remaining sky high.  Will he be worth a package full of top ten prospects?  He could be if the Red Sox desperately need a starter come mid-summer.

Pulling in 26% of the votes was the option to not make any trades with the feeling that everything was fine.  This was a bit surprising given the uncertainty of the fourth and fifth spots heading into camp and although Daniel Bard, Alfredo Aceves and Felix Doubront have had their moments of glory in March, they have also had some stinkers. All in all, the trio have looked impressive thus far despite Bard possibly being summoned back to the pen.

Another starter not listed grabbed 11% while Wandy Rodriguez of the Houston Astros pulled up the rear with just 10% of the votes.  Funny how Rodriguez finished last, given that the Astros will probably be the worst team in baseball.

As always, thanks for voting and head over to our latest poll where we asked who you would prefer to have in the bullpen, Mike Gonzalez or Andrew Miller.
