BSI Weekly Recap: Jenny, Jackson & Drama

As the calendar turned to February this week it brought forth the excitement of one thing: Spring Training.  The love affair will kick into high gear in a matter of weeks but until then the off season continues and this past week was no exception.  The Red Sox were busy making news and in case you missed any of it here’s the recap.

Saturday

– with the addition of John Maine we look at the Red Sox bullpen which is suddenly getting crowded.

Jenny Dell becomes the new on-field reporter for NESN, so check it out to get to know her background a little bit.

Sunday

– after the Red Sox and Cubs can’t agree on compensation for Theo Epstein, Earl reports that a significant player will head back the other way. He looks at some possibilities.

Monday

Roy Oswalt doesn’t accept the Red Sox offer for a one-year contract so isn’t time for the Red Sox to move on?

– Bobby V predicts that this edition of the Red Sox is in store for some special things this season.

Tuesday

– the 2012 projections continued and we looked at Dustin Pedroia and the MVP numbers he’s predicted to put up.

– with the shortstop revolving door, Earl looks at a comparison between Mike Aviles and the departed Marco Scutaro and Jed Lowrie.

Wednesday

Daisuke Matsuzaka throws off the mound for the first time since his surgery and we look at why it might be too soon to write him off.

– up next for the projections is slugging DH David Ortiz, who’s projected to have another big offensive year.

the latest on the Theo compensation now brings forth that the Red Sox will receive a top ten prospect from the Cubs.  Earl breaks it down.

Thursday

– after Edwin Jackson signs with Washington, Earl examines the remaining free-agent pitchers available outside of Roy Oswalt.

Stephanie introduces us to Cleverbot, an informing machine who provides answers to all questions.  They just may not be what you want to hear.

Friday

Adrian Gonzalez is projected to have another monster year at the plate.

– Ryan had a chance to sit down with Theo Epstein to discuss his views on the Red Sox off season.

– The Roy Oswalt drama continued late in the week with Texas dropping out of the running, leaving Boston as an option, albeit a longshot.
