How Would You Now Rate the Red Sox Bullpen?

Jonathan who? That’s the mindset for Red Sox fans now that Andrew Bailey will be trading in his yellow and green cap for one with a beautiful ‘B’ on it.  The Red Sox now have their closer who will replace Jonathan Papelbon when they acquired Bailey from Oakland. You can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from across Red Sox Nation when the deal was formally announced on Wednesday afternoon.

But let’s not forget that the Red Sox also acquired Mark Melancon from the Houston Astros not too long ago, an arm that also is capable of closing out tight ball games.  Melancon will likely be the set up man for Bailey, allowing Alfredo Aceves a chance to possibly join the starting rotation but still an option for the seventh inning.  Throw in a healthy Bobby Jenks back in the pen and suddenly this bullpen is rounding into form quite nicely.

A couple of pieces may still be added but nothing to the extent of Bailey or Melancon.  So we ask you the readers to voice your opinion by taking part in our latest poll.
