Our friends over at the Fansided site, Seedlings to Stars are continuing their look at the top 100 prospects and they have now entered the top 20. Coming in at number 18 is the Red Sox 19-year old shortstop sensation, Xander Bogaerts.
Nathaniel Stoltz, the senior editor for S2S, takes an in-depth look at Bogaerts and discusses why he is as high as #18 on the list. Stoltz makes note of an impressive ISO stat of .249 and compares Bogaerts numbers to that of the Washington Nationals young kid wizard, Bryce Harper.
Bogaerts is a few years away from having a shot at cracking the Red Sox lineup and as Stoltz mentions, it may be another position that he will have to adjust to with Jose Iglesias being dubbed the shortstop of the future in Boston. None the less, Bogaerts could provide value as a corner outfield or could be used as a commodity in a trade.
