Ball Clippings: Dropkick Mojo

With the Sox playoff hopes dwindling by a thread, I thought this might be the perfect time to try and inject some energy into the remaining 2+ months of the year. The Dropkick Murphys have become the Red Sox band over the past several year’s and their music is featured all over the park, most notably when Jonathan Papelbon exits the bullpen for the mound. I’m Shipping Up to Boston blasts over the loudspeaker and fans everywhere know what that song stands for.

The song has a second meaning this time of year that connects to the 4pm MLB trade deadline. Will the Sox bring in a big name or not? Will Theo Epstein look for the future or stick with what he has and hope for the best? If the Sox are able to bring in a new face or two, they will certainly be ‘Shipping Up to Boston’ looking to make the Sox better.
