After a long winter, the Red Sox returned to live competition today in the first game of a split squad double-header against Northeastern University. All signs were positive in the one-sided match-up as the Red Sox won 15-0 in the 6 inning contest. Casey Kelly got his opportunity to start the game and he did not disappoint. Kelly shut down the Huskies in the 1st inning with 2 K’s on just 10 pitches. The other highlight was David Ortiz’s crushed homerun in the 4th inning, which is a great sign for the new-look slugger. The Red Sox finished their split-squad double-header tonight at 6:05pm against Boston College.
