I certainly don't think Lackey is the second-coming, but anytime you can add an All-Star pitcher to an already impressive starting rotation, it's exciting. The Red Sox don't need lackey to pitch 200+ innings with the depth they have, and giving him an extra rest here and there is just good practice. Lackey's 3-4 postseason record is deceiving, because he has a strong 3.12 era in a career 14 games in the postseason. Over the last 2 postseasons, he has had impressive eras of 2.63 (2008) and 2.29 (2009). When the pressure is raised in the postseason, an era under 3 for a starter is impressive. A win/loss record depends on many factors, including offensive support, which is out of a pitcher's control. Thanks for the comment Al! Since 2003 his record in the playoffs is 3W's and 4L's not exactly stellar. He hasn't pitched more then 176 innings since 2006. He's not the second-coming.
