Lackey to the Sox?

by Boston Red Sox

73394661SD014_Oakland_AthleMultiple sources are reporting that John Lackey has or will sign with the Red Sox shortly. He is supposedly undergoing a physical now, which is usually something that occurs after a deal has already been struck. The addition of a one of the most talented starting pitchers in the free agent market would greatly strengthen an already strong rotation of the Sox and would allow Theo and the gang to turn 100% of their attention to signing a power hitter or two. Lackey’s career numbers are impressive (a record of 102-71, 3.81 era, in 234 career games) and last year put up solid numbers in 27 games going 11-8 with a 3.83 era and 139 strikeouts. Lackey would join Josh Beckett and Jon Lester at the front end of the rotation creating an incredibly strong 1-2-3 punch. More information to come, but this seems close to being a done deal.

White Sox rotation is proven to be solid, one of he best. Red Sox rotation has a few more question marks (Buchholtz, Matsuzaka), but has the potential to be just as good, if not better than the White Sox. The key word, however, is potential. Thanks for the comment!

If this is true, it makes things very interesting for the Angels. I'm not sure what pitchers they are eyeing but their rotation looks real bad right now.

Lackey is good but I'd still take the White Sox rotation over the Yankees and the Red Sox.
