What’s Victor Martinez done so far in a Boston Red Sox uniform?  Let’s just take a quick look at what the newly acquired C/1B has done for Boston since joining the club.

Martinez’s Stats in 2 Games with Boston:

Sat – 1 for 5 – 1 Hit – 1 RBI – 1 Run – 1 K – 0 LOB

Sun – 5 for 6 -  5 Hits – 4 RBIs - 1 Run - 2 LOB

Totals -  6 for 11 – 6 Hits – 5 RBIs – 2 Runs – 1 K – 2 LOB

Those are pretty impressive stats if you ask me, especially since he was traded on Friday.  Then he quickly packs his things, hop’s on a plane and joins the Sox in Baltimore.  While getting to know his new teammates and starting at two different positions (1B/C) in the final two games of the series, for the Sox verse the Baltimore Orioles.

Since he was starting at first base on Saturday, which gave Mike Lowell the chance to rest, as Kevin Youkilis played third.  Then he was behind the plate catching Clay Buchholtz on Sunday, which gave Jason Varitek an extra day’s rest.  And to think for the Sox to keep Martinez for the 2010 season, it’s will cost them $7 million.  This seems like a perfect fit for both the Sox and also for Martinez, if you ask me!
