With less than a month to go before the All-Star Game voting ends, it’s time Red Sox Nation made a strong push for Kevin Youkilis! Here’s an update on the battle that’s currently in place between Youkilis, Mark Teixeira (New York Yankees) and Justin Morneau (Minnesota Twins). All three are all vying for the starting first baseman spot to represent the American League, in this years mid summer classic.
Youkilis who up until last week had been leading the voting at first base, has now slipped into second place. The new leader is none other than Mark Teixeira (Tex) from the hated Yankees. Tex was helped by a strong push from the Yankee fans while the team was enjoying their last home-stand over the weekend in the Bronx. The push helped to propel Teixeira over the top, hopefully only for the moment!
| 1. | Mark Teixeira | Yankees | 833,960 |
| 2. | Kevin Youkilis | Red Sox | 832,751 |
| 3. | Justin Morneau | Twins | 729,175 |
| 4. | Miguel Cabrera | Tigers | 649,955 |
| 5. | Chris Davis | Rangers | 461,183 |
Which means it’s now time for fans of the Boston Red Sox, who are all across the country and the world to head on over to MLB.com and cast your votes. Remember you’re allowed to vote up to 25 times (per e-mail account) while the voting remains open. The voting for this year’s game ends at 11:59 EST on July 2nd!
